In interpersonal exchange, family dynamics, movement spaces, non-profit organizations, and often pervasive in corporate culture, we may experience manifestations of dominant culture (some of which include: perfectionism, power hoarding, defensiveness, fear of conflict, etc) that reinforces and helps to maintain systems of oppression such as racism, heterosexism, classism, ableism, cis-sexism, ageism, US imperialism, and so much more. Liberatory Practices comes out of the work of Racial Equity & Liberation as an embodied (experiential) intention that supports individually and collectively shifting culture and expanding our capacity and strategies for systems change.
In this 1- hour intro to Liberatory Practices participants will learn about the framework of liberatory practices, identify and learn about various practices and try on a few to better understand how these practices support our collective liberation. Starting with our personal lives and reflecting on how this lives in our communities, we will draw connections to how and why it is crucial they are brought into our work.
